It Is important to understand there are several “other charges “that can affect your costings and sometimes, these charges cannot be quantified as they may or may not occur on arrival into Australia. It is however very important to understand what they are, and what they stand for, these include:

 

AQIS INSPECTIONS

Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service and it is part of the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) – Quarantine Inspectors or Officers control and minimise the risk of exotic pests and disease to protect Australia’s agriculture industries and environment. Inspection charges are usually based on an hourly fee.

 

FCL or LCL DETENTION:

If the total delivery time, from pickup at wharf to unpack at your premises and de-hire of container exceeds allowed time, detention rates apply.

 

Via Depot

If importer is unable to take delivery of the container and available wharf time has lapsed or the importer wants to delay delivery container is moved to “a depot “.

 

STEAM CLEANING

Should quarantine inspection identifies dirt on the container or machinery, the container / machinery will require steam cleaning prior to release from terminal.

 

MISSED TIME SLOT

The time slot arranged at wharf wasn’t used due to customs hold on the container.

 

FUTILE TRIP TO WHARF

The trucking company has gone to wharf to pickup a container that has been delayed by customs.

 

WHARF/DEPOT STORAGE

If insufficient paperwork to custom clear the cargo before storage commences.

 

CONTAINER DEMEURRAGE

Container is not returned to the Shipping line within the allowed free time – each shipping line offers different amount of “free time days “to return the container.
